Joan Egbo is a vibrant young legal practitioner called to the Nigerian Bar on 8th July, 2025. She has raging interests in important aspects of law including Dispute Resolution, Arbitration, Investment Treaty Arbitration, International Law, Sports Law, Maritime and Admiralty Law, Corporate and Commercial law, amongst other areas of law. She has an LL.B from Enugu State University of Science and Technology(ESUT) and a B.L from the Nigerian Law School.

Since her University days, Joan’s interest in Arbitration has been paramount and this led her to become the Pioneer Vice President and Partner of Arbitration of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Society, ESUT Chapter. This transcended into representing the school in various Arbitration moot competitions including the prestigious FDI Arbitration moot where she joined the list of top 10 advocates (Honorable mentions) in the All African Rounds of 2021 and top 20 advocates overall in what was her first participation in the moot. She would later go on to join the ESUT team that placed 3rd in the National Rounds of the FDI Arbitration moot of the same year.

The whole of 2022 saw Joan join the ranks of the FDI Nigerian Initiatives as the Vice President and Deputy Lead project manager where she trained and coached various universities in Nigeria on the FDI moot problem for the year. In 2023 Joan became the President and Lead project manager in the initiative that saw the involvement of more than 9 Nigerian universities in the All African Rounds of the FDI Arbitration Moot of 2023. The same year, she lead the team that won the Nigerian Rounds of the Competition as an advocate.

Beyond Arbitration, Joan is also an avid researcher who has assisted various intellectuals and groups concerning various areas of law.

She is currently an NYSC Associate in the law firm of A.U. Mustapha and Co, where she advices and represents Clients on various areas of law including Labour Law, Real Estate Law, Intellectual Property, Commercial Disputes, Banking Disputes, Maritime and Admiralty, Arbitration, amongst other areas of law.

She is also a member of Nigerian Bar Association, (NBA), Experts in Litigation and Arbitration (ELA), and the NBA Young Lawyers Forum. She also doubles as a Project Manager in FDI Moot West Africa, where she helps to train and equip participants in the knowledge of investment treaty arbitration.
